Week 14 : The End
Welcome back everyone
This week is sadly the last week of my time with VHP. I really put my focus into preparing for the Internship Showcase and wrapping up any last minute organizational and editorial work in our folders. I took this opportunity to look through my folders one last time to make sure that any missing documents were taken care of and moved into it's respective folder. the rest of my time was spent corresponding with my team about our presentation who would take what placement and how best we would spend our time during the topics being spoken about.
During the planning process we had two video calls one of which was the planning phase, We had a rough draft script and slide set up, and I ran my ideas past my team lead as he has had more experience with presentations and internships than I did. During this process I sat in reflection and thought about all that I learned through my journey and how the Internship has changed my life, and thoughts about the future. I feel incredibly privileged to have gotten to experience everything I have from the opportunities to talk to professionals, to the ability to connect with veterans and their families. I was taught many useful skills that I will be able to carry with me into my professional life as well. All of the above mentioned things was what I was able to articulate in my PowerPoint slides. I hope I was able to convey the importance of the project and how it has served our community and how it serves us as students. A couple of the challenges I had was the issue of public speaking. It has always been my weak link, my mind wanders and I freeze mid point, i even have issues with zooming through the presentation and speaking so quickly no one understands me. On Thursday afternoon our team met one more time to rehearse our final drafts before the big presentation day. I was able to calm my nerves and slow down while presenting, and it was great to have the support of my team mates. The Showcase in my opinion went wonderfully and I'm so proud of all my other peers I got to work with this semester. My experience was a positive one and like I've mentioned in previous posts I hope that this will not be my last opportunity with team VHP. The community that this project serves needs more attention and I am so passionate about the continuation of work that is still not done. I hope to see it evolve into what I know it can be. I am very blessed to have been given this opportunity and I hope to be hopping back on the blog soon to carry on my work.
Hopefully, Until Next Time...
