Week 1: Introductions
Hello Everyone,
My name is Jesse D'Abreu. I am in my final year here at UCF and I'm a bit sad to go in the next couple semesters. I have a super cute pup named Koda, and I love reading and sewing.
I have always been fascinated by history and have been very blessed to have a parent who enabled this by buying me all the history related books I wanted. What started as a simple interest in medieval period clothing then spread to Greek Mythology and a wonder of what the lives of the people who may have spun these myths truly looked like outside of the fantasy of tales like the Iliad and more. This then spiraled even more to where my current interests lie. My research interests lie mainly in Ancient Greek History with a focus on the timeline of the Dark Ages all the way to the Hellenistic Period. And a fun interest of mine has always been Fashion History through the ages. This internship really came at a time when I needed guidance the most and and a feeling of reassurance to my choice in major and career path. I hope to gain all the hands on experience with archival and preservation, as well as oral communication techniques. I want to leave this internship with a world of knowledge that will help me as I move through not only this Fall semester but through my personal and working life. I am so excited to see where this new journey will take me and I'm happy to bring you all along for the ride while I navigate the Veterans History Project.Until Later!
