Week 4: Getting Things Going
Hi everyone,
We are starting off week four strong, unfortunately I have no fun pictures today but, not every Tuesday is going to be full of pictures. Where there is fun, there is hard work going on behind the scenes. This Tuesdays meeting was through zoom but I am getting pretty used to seeing everyone in person. We welcomed two new members to the VHP team which was very exciting. Because of the introduction of new people to the group we went over a basic powerpoint reestablishing the internship hierarchy and who was in charge of what project. The premise of our meeting was to talk about each of the projects and what everyone has been doing. I noticed that other teams were getting many tasks done and since VHP was still creating bundles and new members were being squeezed in we didn't have as much work done, It made me feel like I was doing something wrong but i've been assured that this was part of our process and VHP is very detailed oriented and heavy on data organization.
Leading up to Tuesdays meeting I received a message from my team lead with a very detailed guide on creating bundles for the veteran interviews and other documents, how to label, where to find documents, and how to ensure the data in the folders will be set up. After looking through the document and asking some questions once Tuesday came around, I feel confident going forward. Part of the process was going through our existing database of completed and uncompleted bundles and choosing from that list.I chose seven different individuals that were interviewed in Spring of 2024 to start organizing files for.
I am anticipating a learning curve but I am lucky that I have a very communicative team lead to rely on when I have questions. Later in the meeting we were also invited out to go to the Phi Alpha Theta history chapter meeting, that was very informative and it was great to see some familiar faces around the table. I am happy there were opportunities all inclusive to anyone who wants to come be apart of the projects that PAT will be taking care of. For now I have signed up for theGreenwood Cemetery's Wreaths Across America Project and I am so excited to be apart of that team.
Until Next Time!
